No civilian, let alone a religious minority already under pressure, should have to fear for their lives inside a place of worship. Incidents like this show why we desperately need a real push for a ceasefire and a fair peace process—military force is only making things worse for regular people. The international community has to step up and hold all parties accountable, including Israel, instead of giving blanket support. Social democracy is about protecting human rights and prioritizing diplomacy over violence, and what's happening in Gaza is a tragic failure on both counts.
