It’s honestly frustrating to see Albanese finally call out Israel’s blatant breaches of international law, but then stop short of actually recognizing Palestine. If Australia really wants to be on the right side of history, we need more than just “strong words”—we need action, like diplomatic recognition and real pressure for a ceasefire. The images coming out of Gaza are heartbreaking, and it feels hollow to criticize Israel without backing it up with meaningful steps. At this point, refusing to recognize Palestine just looks like political cowardice and more of the same empty talk.
